La Liga (Week 9) : Villarreal beats Las Palmas 2-1
SPAIN, Oct. 23, 2016 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 9: Two wins in a row for Villarreal. After their 5-0 win against Celta Vigo on October 16, El Submarino Amarillo continued their sensational form in the La Liga with a 2-1 victory over Las Palmas this Sunday.
Las Palmas had started off well by taking the lead in the 31st minute with a goal by Ghanaian forward Kevin-Prince Boateng. Trailing 1-0 at half time, El Submarino Amarillo nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Sansone '64 on penalty and Bakambu Cedric '90).
Villarreal CF climbed to third place with 19 points from 9 games, tie on points with FC Barcelona.
