La Liga (Week 26) : Villarreal defeats Espanyol 2-0
SPAIN, Mar. 4, 2017 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 26: Two wins in a row for Villarreal. After their 1-4 win against Osasuna on March 1, El Submarino Amarillo continued their sensational form in the La Liga with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol this Saturday.
Villarreal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Italian midfielder Roberto Soriano in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, El Submarino Amarillo further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by López into his own net with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
Villarreal CF remains in 6th place with 45 points from 26 games, one point behind Atletico Madrid, which has a game in hand.
