Primeira Liga (Week 16) : Benfica beats Guimaraes 3-0
PORTUGAL, Jan. 10, 2015 (AMP) — Primeira Liga / Match day 16: 8 wins in a row for Benfica. After their success against Rio Ave, Nacional, Académica Coimbra, Belenenses, Porto, Gil Vicente and Penafiel, the Eagles continued their sensational form in the Primeira Liga with a 3-0 victory over Vitoria Guimaraes this Saturday.
Benfica dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Brazilian forward Jonas in the 13th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Eagles further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (John '54 and Gaitan '89).
SL Benfica remains in first place with 43 points from 16 games, a 9-point lead over runner-up FC Porto, which has a game in hand.
