RIO DE JANEIRO, Jul. 16, 1950 (AMP) — Brazil 50 : Uruguay defeated Brazil by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup second round game (Final Round Group) on Sunday afternoon at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Juan Alberto Schiaffino ('66) and Ghiggia ('79).
