RIO DE JANEIRO, Jun. 24, 1950 (AMP) — Brazil 50 : Brazil defeated Mexico by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Ademir scored dual goals
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Ademir in the 30th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Jair '65, Baltazar '71 and Ademir '79).
The result put the Brazilians top of Group 1 with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Switzerland at the Maracanã Stadium on June 28, while Mexico will face Yugoslavia.
