LENS, Jun. 12, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Denmark defeated Saudi Arabia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
45 minutes of play and neither the Danes nor the Saudis have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Danish defender Marc Rieper in the 69th minute.
The result put the Dane top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Denmark will meet South Africa at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on June 18, while Saudi Arabia will face France.
