SAINT DENIS, Jun. 18, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : France defeated Saudi Arabia by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the Stade de France in Saint Denis.
Thierry Henry scored dual goals
France dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Thierry Henry in the 37th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Frenchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Trézéguet '68, Henry '78 and Lizarazu '85).
The result put the French top of Group C with 6 points. Saudi Arabia is bottom with no points. In their last game, France will meet second-placed Denmark at the Stade de France on June 24, while Saudi Arabia will face South Africa.
