AUCKLAND, Jun. 8, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Oceania Qualifiers) : The Solomon Islands defeated Vanuatu by a big score of 7-2 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Friday.

The result put the Solomon Islander top of Group 2 with 6 points. Vanuatu is fourth with 3 points. In their next game, the Solomon Islands will meet second-placed New Zealand on June 11, while Vanuatu will face New Zealand.
