AUCKLAND, Jun. 11, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Oceania Qualifiers) : New Zealand defeated the Solomon Islands by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Monday.

The result put the New Zealander top of Group 2 with 9 points. The Solomon Islands is second with 6 points. In their last game, New Zealand will meet Vanuatu on June 13, while the Solomon Islands will face Tahiti.
