Championship (Week 21) : Newcastle defeats Wigan Athletic 2-0

ENGLAND, Dec. 14, 2016 (AMP) — Championship / Match day 21: Two wins in a row for Newcastle. After their 4-0 win against Birmingham City on December 10, the Magpies continued their sensational form in the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic this Wednesday.

Newcastle dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Diamé in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Magpies further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Atsu Christian in the 78th minute.

Newcastle United remains in first place with 46 points from 21 games, one point ahead of runner-up Brighton and Hove Albion FC.
