Premier League (Week 22) : Southampton defeats Newcastle 2-1
ENGLAND, Jan. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Premier League / Match day 22: Three wins in a row for Southampton. After their success against Arsenal and Manchester United, the Saints continued their sensational form in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle this Saturday.
Eljero Elia scored dual goals
Southampton forward Eljero Elia opened the score in the 14th minute, before seeing Newcastle catch up in the 29th minute thanks to Yoan Gouffran. 1-1 at half time. The Saints eventually won the game in the second period with with another goal by Elia in the 62nd minute.
Southampton remains in third place with 42 points from 22 games, 5 points behind Manchester City FC, which has a game in hand.
