Primeira Liga (Week 23) : Rio Ave defeats Académica 2-0
PORTUGAL, Feb. 20, 2016 (AMP) — Primeira Liga / Match day 23: After their 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon on February 15 and 1-1 draw against Paços de Ferreira on February 15, Rio Grande bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Académica Coimbra this Saturday.
Rio Ave dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Cape Verdean forward Kuca in the 38th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, Rio Grande further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Yazalde Pinto in the 69th minute.
Rio Ave FC climbed to fifth place with 33 points from 23 games, 9 points behind SG Braga, which has a game in hand.
