ENGLAND, Dec. 26, 2016 (AMP) — Championship / Match day 23: After three straigth victories against Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion, the Magpies lost 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Dutch defender Glenn Loovens in the 53rd minute.
Newcastle United remains in first place with 49 points from 23 games, one point ahead of runner-up Brighton and Hove Albion FC, which has a game in hand.
