La Liga (Week 16) : Villarreal beats Gijon 3-1
SPAIN, Dec. 17, 2016 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 16: Two wins in a row for Villarreal. After their 3-0 win against Atletico Madrid on December 12, El Submarino Amarillo continued their sensational form in the La Liga with a 3-1 victory over Sporting Gijon this Saturday.
Villarreal dominated the first half thanks to goals from Dos Santos Jonathan ('12) and Sansone ('19). Leading 2-0 at the break, El Submarino Amarillo further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Pato Alexandre in the 74th minute.
Villarreal CF remains in fourth place with 29 points from 16 games, one point behind Sevilla FC, which has a game in hand.
